GIHS Art Club awarded prize by Albright Knox
Members of the Art Club at Grand Island High School competed in this year’s Art Alive competition presented by the Albright Knox Art Museum in Buffalo. Seniors Ava Todaro, Renee DiLaura and Gabe Agnello posed in a live depiction of Jāzeps Grosvalds's "Three Women on the Street of Baghdad, (1919, Collection Latvian National Museum of Art). The three students worked together with club advisor, teacher Cindy Wynne, and fellow members Lauren Caizza, Julianna Leza and Jackie Heyden to recreate the art work using fabric, cardboard, wood and paint. Art Club’s entry was given the Best Craftsmanship award in the Groups/Households category by the event judges.
All entries and winners can be viewed on the museum’s website.
