GIHS School Supply Recommendations for 2025-2026
Below are the recommended school supplies by department to assist you with shopping for supplies when they are on sale during the summer months. While this list is not all encompassing, it does provide a general guide for what you can expect students will be asked to have for courses in our content areas.
All courses:
Wired headphones or earbuds for Chromebook use. These can be purchased inexpensively at the local dollar stores. They are also available for free at our school for those who do not want to purchase them.
(Wireless headphones/earbuds will not be allowed.)
Art:
Studio in Art: 4 Ticonderoga pencils, white rubber eraser, small sketchbook (Dollar Tree is fine). Optional - hair clip/tie, smock
Ceramics: 4 zip style plastic bags (gallon or larger), plastic container w/lid (like cool whip size), 3”x5” spiral bound notebook, pencil. Optional - hair clip/tie, hand lotion, smock.
Sculpture: pencil, Optional - hair clip/tie, smock.
Fashion: pencil, old jeans, tees, clothing, camera (on phone is fine)
Textiles: assorted yarn, string and fabric scraps
Photography: USB 16GB or larger, SD card 16GB or larger
Film and Animation: USB 16GB or larger, SD card 16GB or larger
Advertising Design: USB 16GB or larger
Drawing and Painting: 4 Ticonderoga pencils, white rubber eraser, 50-100 sheet 9”x12” spiral bound sketchbook (Michaels, Hobby Lobby…) Optional - hair clip/tie, smock
Creative Crafts: tote bag to carry objects home, clean white tee shirt (can be used), found objects as needed, 2 pocket folder
*AP Art: Sketchbook in desired size/paper weight, pencil, materials specific to your portfolio (as discussed in pre-meeting), container to carry projects. Optional - hair clip or tie, smock.
