Financial Aid

High school seniors should complete the FAFSA starting Ocober 1.  Those who complete the FAFSA early are more likely to recieve federal and institutional aid that is awarded on a first come, first served basis.

3 Steps to applying to Financial Aid:

Step 1: Apply for your FSA ID

Both the student AND a parent/guardian will need their own FSA ID

This only needs to be done once.  Store this information for future reference as you will need it each year.

Step 2: Complete your FAFSA (Opens October 1st)

You will need your FSA ID to complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Step 3: Complete your NYS TAP Application

At the end of the FAFSA you can link to HESC for the NYS Tap Application.

The New York State Education Department now requires each school district to verify whether students have completed the FAFSA or, if applicable, the DREAM Act application. This initiative aims to ensure that every student has access to financial aid opportunities and understands the various resources available to them for funding their post-secondary education.

If you do not wish to complete either for your child, we ask that you please complete the attached waiver and return it to the school counseling office.

Additionally, Higher Education Scholarship Corporation (HESC) offers numerous state sponsored scholarships, financial aid and assistance opportunities that require additional application. Please visit HESC for more information and to apply.
