NCAA/Athletics

Student-athletes must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center to be eligible to play NCAA Division I or II sports in college. Athletes playing in Division III do not have to register.


The NCAA Eligibility Center  has implemented online registration for prospective student-athletes. To register, students should access the NCAA Eligibility Center web site. https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/

Once registered, Student Athletes must request an Official Transcript be uploaded to their NCAA account by their school counselor. Stop by guidance to fill out the GIHS Transcript Request Form and complete this step.  

Students must also have their Official SAT or ACT scores sent directly to NCAA. Use the NCAA Eligibility Center code of 9999 so your scores are sent directly to the Eligibility Center from the testing agency.

To be eligible for Division I you must successfully complete 16 core classes:

  • 4 years of English
  • 3 years of mathematics (Algebra I or higher)
  • 2 years of natural/physical science (1 year of lab)
  • 1 year of additional English, mathematics or natural/physical science
  • 2 years of social science
  • 4 years of additional courses (from any area above, LOTE or comparative religion/philosophy)

To be eligible for Division II you must successfully complete 16 core classes:

  • 3 years of English
  • 2 years of mathematics (Algebra I or higher)
  • 2 years of natural/physical science (1 year of lab)
  • 3 years of additional English, mathematics or natural/physical science
  • 2 years of social science
  • 4 years of additional courses (from any area above, LOTE or comparative religion/philosophy)
