Pre-order sales run from August through September 16, 2026 and pick-up will take place at the Sidway Transportation Garage on Friday, September 25, 2026 from 12:00pm-6:00pm. NYS PTA Reflections
Date: Septemeber - December 2026
Each year, the PTA Reflections program offers students a platform to express their unique
perspectives and interpretation of a student-created theme. For the 2026-2027 school year,
the theme is “What my Culture Means to Me”. Students reflect on this theme and create original works of art in the areas of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. Students earn positive recognition for their achievements.
Celebration of Inspiration
Date: Tuesday, May 18, 2026
The Celebration of Inspiration is one of Grand Island’s most beloved traditions. It gives each senior the opportunity to nominate one Grand Island staff member who has made a difference during their time within the Grand Island Schools. It can be a teacher, aide, secretary, bus driver, cleaner, custodian, guidance counselor, monitor, cafeteria staff, any staff member who has had an impact on them during their time in the school district. During the event, the student says a few words about what makes that individual so special and how they have inspired them, the student presents them with a plaque (provided by the PTA Council), and then the teacher says a few words about the student. There is also a plaque with all of the recipients listed, which gets hung in the Viking Mall each year. It is a very powerful and emotional event that celebrates and recognizes the lasting impact that all district staff have on the students of Grand Island.
NYS PTA Honorary Life Membership
Date: May 2027
Our school community is full of people - parents, teachers, staff and volunteers - who go above and beyond for our children. Do you know someone who should be recognized? Nominate him or her for a NYS PTA Honorary Life Membership Award. This award acknowledges individuals for their efforts on behalf of children and youth. The person need not be a PTA member, but someone who has greatly contributed to the health and welfare of children in our community through home, school, or business support. Additional information about the nomination process will be available in early 2027.
Academic Awards
Date: May 18, 2027
Any student who achieves Honor Roll status during two of the first three marking periods of the school year is recognized with an academic award. The awards are progressive and are earned as follows:
- Patch - First year earning Honor Roll
- Pin - Second year earning Honor Roll
- Letter - Third year earning Honor Roll
- Cord - Fourth year earning Honor Roll
